Sinking of the Texas Clipper

After nearly 30-years as a training vessel for students at A&M-Galveston, the Texas Clipper tomorrow (Nov. 17) will be sunk in the Gulf of Mexico for use as an artificial reef. A juror in the federal Holy Land Foundation trial tells KERA the prosecution made a travesty of justice in the case. Texas Begins Inspection of Minnesota-Style Bridges

Inspectors from the Texas Department of Transportation's Bridge Division are fanning out across the state. This week they began inspecting bridges similar in construction to the failed bridge in Minnesota. Texas is home to 16 steel deck truss bridges that carry vehicular traffic. Texas schools to phase out TAKS: Pt. 1

Texas lawmakers in the recently-ended legislative session voted to switch out the controversial TAKS test with end-of-course exams. Plano state senator Florence Shapiro led the push for the change - which won't be immediate.
