As a birthplace of the modern brewing industry, we have quite a heritage to celebrate. Brewers of all types were there to enjoy beer and show off their skills. This band is an instrumental surf act that recently reunited. They originally “took a break” back in 2001. We’re glad to have them back, as they were one of the best bands to come out of St. Louis in recent years. But then again, they are from Texas, so for all I know they DO live in the same neighborhood as ZZ Top. Honky is J.D. Pinkus’ (formerly of the Butthole Surfers) band. It’s an improvised comedy mockumentary about a support group for anyone with any kind of problem. It’s been shown in festivals around the country and has gotten some really great reviews. Alt Country, also known as Alternative Country is basically a hybrid of traditional country and punk and/or rock and roll. Uncle Tupelo, for instance, was one of the legendary acts that played this kind of music and called the St. Louis area home. It occupies a former 1930’s-era art deco police station on the southside of the city.
