Irregular Times Podcast Podcasts

PodcastDirectory / News and Politics / Liberal
PodcastDirectory / Regions / NA / USA

It is a time of freedom and fear, of Gaia and of borders, of many paths and the widening of a universal toll road, emptying country and swelling cities, of the public bought into privacy and the privacy of the public sold into invisible data banks and knowing algorithms. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection. These are the times when maps fade and direction is lost. Forwards is backwards now, so we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we are all passing, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times, but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread. Behind us we have left the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

My Two Cents: The Only Change I Can Believe In

To support government programs that blatantly violate the Constitution is not an acceptable political maneuver to move to the Center. It is to distance yourself from the center, from the core of what the United States of America stands for. That is what the Constitution is, and it is what you are rejecting.

Obama Promises Corrupt Religious Kickback Scheme

These religious programs are corrupt. They corrupt the government by setting government policy with the purpose of political allegiance. They corrupt churches by encouraging church leaders to campaign for the candidate who promises to write the biggest government handout check back to the church after Inauguration Day.

Yes We Can Spy On You Video

The FISA Amendments Act doesn't just give retroactive immunity, of course. It also gives the Attorney General of the United States, a political appointee of the President, unstoppable spy powers to conduct physical searches of Americans' homes and spy on us as we talk on the phone or use the Internet. It can all be done without any evidence that the people being spied on are even suspected of a crime.

Video Podcast on Government Spying and the Red Sox

Most of the blame must lie with the American people, who have become so obsessed with entertainment that they've forgotten about their duty as citizens in a democracy to be informed about what their government is doing. They're willing to throw their democracy away, like an old baseball.

John Shadegg Laughs It Up About Our Amazingly Great Economy

Torture Awareness Month Without Awareness

If you don't count Irregular Times, or That's My Congress - a blog affiliated with Irregular Times, only two blogs bothered to write anything about the hearings. Since that time, a few more mainstream news reports have trickled in, but the blog blackout remains. It seems that if the mainstream news doesn't report on something, the blogosphere doesn't even recognize that it exists.
