Episode 069: Farewell...sort of

For those of you wondering about the future of the show, here's the deal: it will continue although on a very limited schedule. Dan, TK and I have agreed that doing the show on Skype or even on a regular phone just wouldn't be the same (check out our first show if you don't believe us). We will do the show whenever possible but that unfortunately won't be very often. When we do get around to releasing content we will try to do as much as possible. I don't think anybody even listens to these but we love doing them so here's another one. This one was pretty long compared to most of the other ones and there are some funny moments if you're brave enough to sit through all the boring parts.

Episode 068: Our Favorite Programs Part 3

Once again we bring you a 60 minute show with 13% less cholesterol than before. We spiced up the news a bit by answering some questions posed in the headlines and we finished up with some pretty good stories. For our topic we covered even more programs we love in part 3 of this running topic.

Episode 067: Digg v3

The news was extremely limited in this show thanks to a complete lack of anything interesting happening in the past week. However, the topic brought the news up from the trenches by making fun of how bad the newest version of everybody's favorite website, Digg, is.

Episode 066: Portable Gaming

Sorry about the extreme delay in getting this show out but I've just been so busy with work and lots of other stuff plus this show just wasn't all that great. We had an exclusive news story thanks to TK but aside from that this show was pretty average.

Episode 064: Worthless Technologies

We had some pretty good news for this one and as such that segment of the show turned out very well. As for the topic, it wasn't quite as good but it should bring back memories for some of you and for the rest you'll just laugh. Episode 063: Our Favorite Products

Completely lacking in any discernable form of enthusiasm, this show was one of the worst we've ever done. For some reason we were all way more tired than usual and it showed to say the very least. The news was pretty funny while the topic dragged us down to new lows. We covered our favorite products and while the content was good the delivery was subpar. Check this one out anyways.

Episode 062: Common Security Problems

The news for this show was particularly funny or perhaps it was just us who made it funnier than usual. The topic, as is our custom, was picked during the break after the first half of the show but despite our extreme preparedness we didn't do all that bad. We had a little filler at the end but that's not unlike us. Sites: [ How to disable USB mass storage, WinPE, Boot Windows from USB device, Firefox saved passwords for all to see, Disable LM Hashes ]

Episode 060: Windows Password Cracking

I can't tell you how long I've been looking forward to this topic. I know we've covered it before but I felt we needed to do a specific session for two reasons. The first reason is that Hak.5, an IPTV show that I respect, made some glaring errors in their explanation of Windows password cracking. Episode 059: Windows Tweaks

This show was average. That's probably the best way to sum this one up. I was way too excited about the redesign of our news site that I did but then again we're the only ones that can see it since it's the news site we use for the show. Anyways, the news was decent and the topic was Windows tweaks which turned out better than I thought but definitely not as good as it could been.

Here's another philosophy session for you to enjoy. Compared to the past 4 that we have done I must say that this is by far the worst but since it is us it can't possibly be that bad. There's a lot of silence and downtime but when we're actually talking it's great.

Episode 058: Plugins and Addons

This show was average. If you remember our ups and our downs, this was somewhere in the middle. Insults were plentiful and we finally had our first made up news story about ourselves thanks to our very own IceCube. A first of firsts in Tech Talk and another milestone we have passed.

Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Visit Website

Episode 057: The Digg Conspiracy

We have our ups and our downs. This was a down. We gave the word filler a whole new meaning with probably a third of the show being nice padding. Of course our padding is way better than anybody else's but that's not saying much. The news was good as long as it lasted and the topic was the recent Digg conspiracy that there's a ton of censorship and such going on at everybody's favorite news site.

Episode 056: College

This was by far one of the best shows we've done in a while. The news was quite classic and amusing, perhaps even a bit more than usual. We decided to take a break from covering technology since we've all had our trials and tribulations with the college admission process. Translation: we didn't do any research, didn't feel like pulling a tech topic out of our asses, and we figured this would be the best replacement. Enjoy.

Episode 055: Web Design

This show was definitely an improvement over last week's despite the fact that that's not saying much. We covered some pretty good news stories and followed that up with a relatively delicious topic of web design.

Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Visit Website

Episode 054: Office 2007

We can only do so many good shows in a row and this was definitely the end of our two show streak. This episode was average at best with seemingly random news stories and a lackluster coverage of Office 2007 as our topic. To top it off, there was a nice interruption that I edited out fairly nicely though you should be able to pick out pretty easily anyways.

Episode 053: Password and Hash Cracking Part 2

Two legitimate shows in a row. What were we thinking? I'm not sure but I do know that it turned out pretty well. Episode 052: IPv4 and IPv6

Our official one year anniversary episode showed how far we've come since our first dismal show. I won't say that this particular show is a high point but we've certainly done a lot worse. We had some decent news stories and our first relatively legitimate topic in a long time. Enjoy.

Before The Show

We here at Tech Talk love giving you more. More bullshit, more racism, more outlandish comments that offend everybody. That's what we do best. So here's our third philosophy session that I recorded before our show on outsourcing with David and Prakash. It is a bit hectic and difficult to understand but if you stick with it there are some hilarious moments.

Episode 051: Our Favorite Programs Part 2

Being veterans in the podcasting game we continue embarking upon our noble quest to teach you as much as possible and uphold the values of copyright and intellectual property. The news was good and we covered some more of our favorite programs in a part 2 of our other show on our favorite programs. Overall this was a pretty good follow-up to Celebration.

Episode 050: Celebration

It's hard to believe we've been doing this show for almost a year now. We decided to basically talk a little bit about how the show got started and a bit of reminiscing plus a ton of talking about how great we are. For the topic, I talked a lot about how much I do to keep this little production afloat and how little Dan and TK do. Ah, I'm great.

Episode 049: Outsourcing

Guests flying everywhere! We had two guests on this show and they were live this time. Yes, that means no guests Skyping from Canada this time. David (also featured in 10/21/05 MP3 Players) and Prakash from The Hindu and the Jew joined us for our 49th episode. The show was a bit chaotic since TK seemed to be having his period and there were five people trying to insult each other at the same time rather than three. However, we got in some good news and worthwhile discussion about outsourcin ...

Episode 048: eDonkey

For once we actually kept our promise and made this show informational with a guest thanks to Skype. IceCube, who is from the Slyck forums, is the man behind most of the promotion of Tech Talk. As for the show, we took a few minutes longer on some damn good news stories and then more or less let IceCube cover his specialty: the eDonkey2000 network. We made sure to ask questions and almost be like a real set of hosts on a real show with a real guest. Amazing.

Episode 047: Video Codecs

How about that? We did a show on time for once. And how about that? I released it before Saturday. I would say that this show was technically perfect but I was unavoidably detained by my dad for the last 3 minutes of the news. As such, my fellow cast members were more or less lost. Aside from that, the show went very well. We did another relatively simple topic but we hope to do a real show with either a real topic or a real guest (or perhaps even more than one)

Episode 046: Internet Browsers

Here is yet another show that we had to push back a day and it didn't turn out all that badly. It didn't turn out well but it definitely didn't turn out badly. The news wasn't good at all but the topic was pretty informational considering the fact that we decided it after the first half of the show. Check this one out anyways since we are awesome.

Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Visit Website

Episode 045: Podcasts

Lots of news. Lots and lots of news. For some reason, we were quite energetic for this show, and that always helps. The news took a while since we had a ton of stories, but it was all worth it. The topic was awesome because I was talking forever. I mean forever. We covered podcasts, basically going over which ones suck and which ones are good and why.

Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Visit Website

Episode 044: Old School Games

This show turned out a lot better than I expected. Firstly, I forgot to plug in the mic for the first half of the show so everything was recorded on my laptop mic. Other than that, everything was pretty damn good. The news was more or less like usual, and the topic was basically Dan and TK sharing their experiences with old school games. Make sure to check out the links to see some of the games they talked about.

Episode 043: Secure Communication

I can't say that this show topped our last one, but it came damn close. Dr Kang, M.D. comes in to join us (listen to the show and you'll see what we mean, he's not a real doctor). We did a normal show this time around with some great news stories and an informational yet boring topic discussion.

Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Visit Website

Episode 042: Grab Bag

We bring in the new year with a bang. This release may be a little late coming, but I'm sure you will agree it was worth the wait. We extended the news to 20 minutes and shortened the topic to 10, and it was pretty much perfect. We were more or less hilarious for the whole show, covering a ton of news stories and then looking back at 2005 and obviously making fun of the whole year.

The Best Of 2005

I compiled about 8 minutes of some of the best Tech Talk material of 2005. I tried to pick out the funniest stuff I could find, but you and I both know that there is no way in hell that I was going to listen to all of our shows to find everything. I did my best and hopefully you guys will enjoy it.

Episode 041: The Holidays

We kicked ass. Somehow I managed to find a handful of worthwhile news stories for this show, though we ended up looking for a few stories towards the end. The news, though, didn't even hold a candle to the topic. We decided to talk about the holidays, and it was most excellent. Firstly, we took on Santa from an engineer's perspective, figuring out that he and his reindeer would be vaporized. Then we put down a few common technology gifts this season. Quite the show.

Episode 040: Java

This was an average show. That's pretty much all I have to say about this one. The news ended up being good, but the topic was a dissappointment, probably because we picked the topic in the break between the halves of the show, but I'll leave that up to you guys (NOTE: I'm going to be out of town and lacking internet access until Monday. I'm leaving sometime in the next few minutes, so I don't have time to release the next show or put up links for this one. But rest assured this will be don ...

Episode 039: Porn

The task of topping our last show proved to be a difficult one, and we couldn't manage it. Well, at least we weren't quite as informational as our last show. This show incorporates a lot more humor, and I think it turned out fairly well. I am proud to announce that we will boldly go where no podcast has ever gone before: porn. Enough said. Download it now.

Episode 038: Google

As promised, we had a nice, serious show for the first time in a while. It turned out damn good, and we threw so much information at you that you probably won't be able to keep up. The news ended up being pretty good, though not as amusing as it usually is while the topic was so kickass I can't even begin to describe. Again, we weren't quite as funny as usual, but the massive amount of knowledge you will carry away from this show makes up for that

Episode 037: Free And Open Source Software

For the first time in a long time, I tried something new for the encoding. I used LAME at 64 kbps, and I shaved 3 MB off the total size with no noticable degradation in quality. As for the show, the news was pretty good overall, regardless of the fact that we ran over time more than a minute. The topic was once again determined minutes before the segment began, but fear not, we plan for an actual informational and serious show next time, so be ready for it

Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Visit Website

Episode 036: New Programming Languages

The final show of November turned out fairly average. The news was most excellent, and the topic fell short as usual. We still manage to be informational, but it doesn't quite live up to our high standards of entertainment. Check it out anyways.

Episode 034: Make Fun of Kazaa Day

This was my official birthday episode, and as a result it kicked ass. Some great news stories followed into the best topic we have had in a long time. While we strayed as far from the topic as humanly possible, it was still hilarious. Make sure to listen to this episode, it is definitely not one to be missed

Episode 033: Compression

I'm really sorry it took this long to get the show out, but I've been quite busy and haven't had much time to do it. Anyways, this was a fairly good show. The news wasn't too long or too short for once, and it ended up being pretty good. The topic was a bit off, but it still had a some useful information in it

Episode 032: Proxies

An extended 40 minute Tech Talk show for you to enjoy, and even a day early! We decided to do the show earlier rather than later, and it turned out pretty good. We had so much news that we had to make the show longer, and obviously we kicked ass on the news. So much news, so little time. Anyways, the topic was fairly lackluster and generally underwhelming, but clearly still worth listening to because of our vast knowledge about...well...everything

Episode 035: Blogging

We manage to follow up my birthday episode with a pretty damn good show. This all could have been that we were all drinking Pepsi before the show, which is something that usually happened in previous shows, but that has not happened in the longest time. The news was pretty good and the topic went from average to most excellent in a matter of minutes

Episode 030: How the Internet Works

This could quite possibly be the best show we have ever done. We had the perfect amount of time for the news, with everything from bomb-proof trucks to MySpace to human genes. The news was not quite as funny as normal, but the topic was the most informational we have ever been. We are on a whole other level of knowledge here. We'll call it a plateau. We are the shit, thank you very much

Episode 029: Get Semi-legal Entertainment for Free

Finally! Damn our lives! Without them we would be able to do a show everyday, but we do have things to do in our normal lives. Sorry for the delay, but I hope you'll agree that it was worth the wait. We run through a bunch of pretty good news, and then the topic was absolutely kickass. You'll definitely hear some stuff that you have never heard in any other podcast...ever. Enjoy, bitches

Episode 028: CG Animation

We finish off September with a pretty good show. We have our ups and our downs, and I would say this is somewhere in the middle. The topic for today was computer graphics animation, and I hope you will be able to tell how rushed this topic was...

Episode 027: Cool Up-and-Coming Technologies

For the first time in a long time, and for the second time ever, we had a guest on the show. He really wasn't an expert on anything and mostly just sat there saying nothing, but we had a guest nonetheless! The topic was a kind of potpourri, including more about Xbox 360, the PS3, and the Revolution. Other things we covered were DDR3 RAM, OLED, and AJAX.

Episode 026: Clustering

In the words of Dan, this is "another bitchin episode." For once, we actually had the right amount of news. We weren't rushing as usual or doing time-filler bullshit. The entire news half of the show kicked ass, and the topic of the show was clustering. Dan handles this topic almost like I would...almost...Definitely an informative and entertaining show

Episode 025: Grab Bag

As a special treat for our 25th episode, we did a whole bunch of different topics that we didn't get to cover or thought of recently. I definitely think this was a good episode. The news was awesome as usual since I picked it out, and the topic turned out great. Some of the things we cover include: collisions (encryption), DHT (Bittorrent), rootkits (viruses), console modding, advanced Linux, ED2K, xpy, Knoppix 3.8 CeBIT Edition

Episode 024: Basic P2P

To say the least, our first live show turned out worse than expected. We didn't have any technical difficulties, but for some reason it just wasn't a good show. Anyways, the news was great regardless of our shitty performance and the topic was basic p2p programs. NOTE: There will be no show on September 2 because I will be on vacation

Episode 023: Password and Hash Cracking

Episode 022: Live Linux CDs

Boatloads of news for this show made the first half of the show 2 minutes longer than normal. Make sure to check out the news archive if you want to read about the crazy stories we covered. The topic for the show was Live Linux CDs, especially Knoppix, Whax, Auditor. I spend forever on Whax, covering it like a fat kid on a candy bar. A pretty good show overall

Episode 021: Geek Wishlist

This show wasn't really our best, and it turned out that way for several reasons. Both guests we had planned to be on the show couldn't make it for various reasons, and Dan was, uh, confined to his home for undisclosed reasons, so he ended up on the phone. Anyways, we had lots of news from wacky to awesome, and the topic was geek wishlist. It's kind of hard to explain this bullshit topic here, so just listen!

Episode 020: Computer/Internet Culture

Funny can't really begin to describe this show. I'm not sure if it will seem amusing to you, but I sure as hell know we were laughing our asses off for most of the show. Some great news leads to interesting discussions, and the topic for the show was computer and internet culture. Basically we wanted a nice, easy topic to transition out of that fury...

Episode 019: Console Piracy

I'm not really sure what was so funny, but one news story absolutely cracked us up. You'll find out what I'm talking about when you listen in. This is one of our more amusing shows without a doubt, with the news topping even our best news from past shows. The topic is console piracy and we, like with all other pirating topics, have a field day. A great show to end the fury, check it out.

The fury continues with some very amusing news stories, from the insane to the downright stupid. We move on the a topic that just about everybody can use at some point in their lives: how to troubleshoot a slow computer. Even we have our moments...

Episode 015: Newsgroups

We're finally back with our first show in quite some time. We cover about a dozen news stories, some of which are funnier than others. Newsgroups are the topic of the day, and somehow we are quite informative except for TK since he was sleeping through most of the topic discussion...Anyways, we came back with a bang, so check it out

Director's Commentary

TK and I also did a director's commentary for the video just for kicks and giggles. It is meant to be played alongside a muted video so you know what the hell we're talking about

Episode 014: Dan in the Field

One of the best shows. Ever. This show is perhaps the funniest we have ever done. Dan was our reporter in the field (which means he was on the phone since we were pressed for time and couldn't pick him up). He managed to somehow be at every single one of the current events we mentioned, including Deep Impact all the way up in space...Definitely get this show

June 10, 2005 -- Wireless Security

We hit some good news stories on this one. Handheld consoles cracked and some other bullshit too. We pulled the topic of wireless security out of our asses as always, and we manage to be informative...sorta. We talk about ways to crack a wireless network and what you can do to protect against that.

June 3, 2005 -- Our Favorite Programs

We made a special 40 minute show for this one. That's right, you get even more Tech Talk goodness. We had to spit out about 10 news stories in 2 minutes at the end of the first half since there were so many, but we finished strong and got them all done. We ranted forever about our favorite programs, but listen in and you may pick up something you'll like

Episode 010: Programming

Another good show for the most part. Sorry about the delay in releasing it, I have been busy pretty much all day, and I went to sleep early last night. Anyways, we had some pretty good news, some funny and some serious stories as well. The topic was programming, and however boring it sounds, we add some spice to it like everything we do

Episode 009: Next-Gen Consoles

This show was unavoidably delayed by Dan and rudely interrupted by my parents. We basically did the news portion, which was funny as always, on Saturday. We then regathered on Sunday to do the discussion. Sorry about the delay. Enjoy!

Episode 008: The Scene

For some reason, great news stories keep happening and we keep reporting them. The news never seems to fail us, and the same holds true for this show. We cover The Scene for our topic discussion, and we more or less kick ass at that

Episode 007: Open Source

We stuck with the new mic on this show, so the sound should be perfect again. News was abundant for this show, so we were shooting them out faster than we could read them off the screen. Open source was the topic for today, and serious discussion ensues!

Episode 006: Things to Do With an Old Computer

We tried out yet another mic for this one, and I think it worked out very well. As a result, the sound quality is at a premium while background noises are nice and quiet. Our insightful comments have reached an all-time high in this show as we talk about some semi-serious news stories as well as a great topic: things to do with old computers

Episode 005: IRC

This has to be our most informational show yet. We obviously dig out some good news stories for you, but this time we one-upped our news with our topic for the show, IRC. This is definitely one of our best ones

Episode 004: Linux

Yet another show for you to enjoy. Remember when I said we had a surprise? We had a special guest on the show. The news is good as always and the topic for the day is Linux

Episode 003: Future Versions of Windows

Another show out of the tube. The news is way funnier than normal, and this time the topic is future versions of Windows. Obviously, this will be a very laughable session :)

Episode 002: Encryption

Alright, so the first show was a bit of an experiment. This show has the full 3 member crew, and this time there are no interruptions or other problems. The news stories are quite amusing as always, and the topic of discussion for this show is encryption. If the first show left a bad taste in your mouth, check this one out before you leave us

Episode 001: Bittorrent

We finally got around to doing our first show. Unfortunately, we were missing one of our cast members, but those present picked up the slack and we did the best we could
