Palestine & womens rights discussion at 2009 Anarchist Bookfair

This audio is of the session organised by the Irish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign. The speaker is Nidal Saadeh, a leftist Palestinian activist from Bethlehem in the West Bank. Note - this was recorded with my back up equipment which isn't as good as my main recorder. The first minute or so of the audio is very indistinct but it improves after that.

Mary Cummings, North Wall Womens Centre @ Sheriff Street

It was quite ironic that we had this discussion in a space, which COULD have turned into a major positive node for Dublin, Stack A. Apparently in the early days of Charlie Haugheys deal to construct the IFSC, Stack A was designated as some sort of"community space", in the end, as stated by Frank Mc Donald and Robert Ballagh, it has turned into yet another space of consumption.... But now that its crisis time, perhaps we will see a change?? Im attaching an MP3 from Mary Cummings, of the NWW ...

Attached is the mp3 version which does not include the slides, obviously the m4a would be better if you can view this. I'd highly recommend not only listening to it but also using it as a basis for collective discussion and forwarding links to it far and wide. After you listen to it you'll not only understand just what is happening but will have a critique of what happened well beyond the 'its all down to greed' moralism of the main stream media.

Anarchist talk on the rise of fascism in Germany

In a period of mass unemployment in 1920's Germany fascism came to power despite not only the presence of mass Communist and Social Democratic parties but also of significant anti-fascist street fighting. Why did the left fail and what was the attraction of fascism. What about fascist movements today, do they represent a similar threat? Can we even agree a single definition of what fascism is?

Audio of Denny Larson on Today with Pat Kenny 15 05 08

Some quotes from the piece: The plan to develop the area seems ill thought-out. The siting of the project has created environmental problems already, with the pollution of the lake. Its being done primarily by companies in order to save money. It doesnt seem like oil companies really need to be saving money right now: they should be spending more and cleaning up their pollution and doing things in a cleaner, better way. We found it quite shocking that the police in Erris had a ...

RE-connecting "art" to life again... small spaces enabling open participation for you too

Glad to see a bit of discussion about art, its place today, what it might mean in the future and a little widening of the normal "political" discussion that happens here on imc-ie.
