Farewell — the end of Sex and Podcasting Yup. I've decided to wrap up Sex and Podcasting and move on. I should have done this about a month ago, but hey, who'sperfect? As I said back then, I've run out of things to say about community podcasting. I've decided to do a new podcast rather than dilute the (I think pretty cool) message of Sex and Podcasting. I hope you'll swing over to GeezerCast and check out the new stuff over there. This show tries to hit the high spots of the Sex and Podcasting manifesto -- "how-to podcasting", ... But the infrastructure that an entrepreneur needs (a local business community, smart people, local capital) has drained away. It’s my opinion that it’s too late to [...]Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Sex and Podcasting takes a look at Peak Oil — a modern day ghost storyOnce upon a time I was appointed by the mayor of St Paul to head a commission to take a look at the Y2k problem. I met a lot of interesting people, and one of the most interesting groups were folks characterized as “Doomers” — those who thought that Y2k would bring on “the [...]Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Hollywood investing — better stick with sex and podcastingA guy named Joseph Medawar got visited by the FBI last week for allegedly bilking people out of $5.5 million for a television show supposedly endorsed by President Bush. [...]Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Sex, podcasting and… deer hunting? This is the first show since I’ve given myself permission to drift a little ways away from the “community podcasting” topic. Hunting season is starting here in Western Wisconsin and I thought I’d share a few observations. Heck, there’s even a community podcasting tie-in (I’ll see if I can pull that off even [...]Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Not just sex and podcastingDang! I’ve kinda run out of things to say about community podcasting… So I’m pondering a course-change to give myself a little more wiggle room in the podcast. “Sex and Broadcasting” (the book by Lorenzo Milam that inspired this podcast) had a similar problem — Lorenzo ran out of stuff to say [...]Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Katrina — multi-language podcastsPatrick contributed a great “how podcasts can help with a recovery effort” idea — which is to equip recovery workers with MP3 players filled with basic-info podcasts in different languages. That way, when they are out in the field, they can communicate with people even if they don’t speak the language. Those same [...]Listen | Listen in your iPhone | Download | View full cache | Katrina - How podcasts can help people get readyThis podcast explores how podcasts could help a community get ready for a disaster like Katrina. Why not build podcasting sites so that the comments to podcasts are podcasts? Buncha interesting software widgets would have to get built, and there's some etiquette to figure out. But some neat things could happen. Podcasting could cross-pollinate and cross-promote a lot better, and it could make for more interesting shows.
