Pianist Gilles Vonsattel brings a great sensitivity to the music of Franz Liszt. These are two pieces from his Années de Pèlerinage - Years of Pilgrimage. In them Liszt tried to capture the brooding majesty of the cypress trees and the fountains at the Villa d'Este, an estate where he lived during his stay in Rome.
