This podcast is a little disjointed as I'm fighting a flu/cold. As all of you know, when we're under the weather concentrating is a little more difficult. Please excuse this. I hope you still get something out of the show. Enjoy!

Intro.

Today I'm going to discuss 4 options to remotely helping friends and family with computer problems. I will be posting screenshots on mywebsiteover the weekend, once I get over this horrendous cold/flu.

02:23 - PODSAFE Music. Steadman- Live it Up. fromhttp://www.steadmanband.com

06:00 - General talk about remote control.

10:00 - Microsoft Windows Remote Assistance. How to use this tool that is bundled into Windows by default.

15:27 - Netmeeting. Windows Netmeeting has been around since the Windows 98 days and still lives on Windows XP. Here I'll talk about how to set it up and get it set up for Remote Desktop Sharing.

21:45 - PODSAFE Music. Steadman - Let Down. fromhttp://www.steadmanand.com

26:17 - TightVNC. A freeware application that runs on the Host machine, and then can be accessed using a web browser. It's available fromhttp://www.tightvnc.com

29:35 - All else fails. There's routers are in the way, and you can't get them configured. There's a web based tool calledhttp://www.gotomypc.com. Essentially, you download and run the program on the PC you want to connect to. That PC then logs onto the Internet and connects to gotomypc. Then using the internet The client PC connects to gotomypc and logs in. Because both computers are initiating the communication on an out going basis, it allows routers to be circumvented. I have not used this process, but have read about it.

37:50 - PODSAFE Music. Steadman - Revive. fromhttp://www.steadmanband.com

38:30 - Close off of the show.

40:40 - out clip.
