Educational Technology continues its Lunchtime Sessions with demonstrations of two instructional technologies that UIS faculty are exploring this semester.UIS is considering adopting the TurningPoint Audience Response System (ARS). Sometimes called Group Response System or Personal Response System, this is a computer-based system which allows students to participate in presentations. Students submit their responses to interactive questions using hand-held devices (response pads, or clickers) or laptop computers. Dr. Gary Trammell and Dr. Gary Butler are piloting the system in CAP 141 (Biology and Chemistry of the Environment) this semester and will share their experiences regarding the use of the ARS in their courses.Dr. Mark Lovik is making use of an Accordent Capture station this semester for recording lectures for his students, both on-campus and online. The Accordent seamlessly records and synchronizes audio, video and data output from any presentation device (notebook computer, document camera, interactive whiteboard, etc.) transforming data into a rich media presentation. Dr. Lovik will also be presenting his experiences from this semester.
