(Undated - AP) — Thousands of Massachusetts residents are without power this morning after the first major snow storm of the season.
N-Star says it is working to restore service to about 70,000 customers, mostly on Cape Cod and the South Shore, after a large transmission line was knocked out during the storm.
Spokeswoman Caroline Allen says they've redeployed all available crews from Boston and the western suburbs to the Cape to help restore power.
Meanwhile, the Red Cross has opened five emergency shelters on the Cape. More than two dozen people were in the shelters as of 6 a-m.
