Man kann sich seine Nachbarn nicht aussuchen. Und wenn man zu wenig Geld hat um sich ein mehrere Meilen großes Grundstück zu besorgen, kann man sie sich auch nicht vom Hals halten kann. Was man aber machen kann, ist: etwas daraus. Also aus den Nachbarn, bzw. aus der Situation in die man geraten kann wenn man Nachbarn hat – z.B. laute – oder gleich eine ganze laute Nachbarschaft.
Man kann beispielsweise die Polizei rufen, wahnsinnig werden, sich einbilden dass das ganze Geschnatter der Nachbarn nichts anderes als lobende Erwähnungen der eigenen Person sind oder einen Mitschnitt eben dieses Lärms machen und als Intro für ein ziemlich cooles Lied verwenden. Letzteres haben El Cantaitor aus dem spanischen Barcelona gemacht, die dieses Lied dann auch gleich ihren Nachbarn gewidmet haben, denn Vecindario heißt nichts anderes als Nachbarschaft.
Der Sänger von El Cantaitor hat mir ein kleines Interview gegeben, dass ich hier wiedergeben möchte.
FM: “Darf ich Vecindario, mein Lieblingslied von Euch, im freemusicpodcast veröffentlichen?”
El Cantaitor: “Du kannst von unseren Liedern veröffentlichen was Du willst, absolut kein Problem für mich. Um ehrlich zu sein: es wäre sogar eine große Ehre. Mach also einfach was Du willst.”
FM: “Warum habt Ihr Euer Lied ausgerechnet unter der Licence Art Libre veröffentlicht und nicht unter der Creative Commons – BY oder einer restriktiveren Lizenz?
El Cantaitor: “Warum die Licence Art Libre? Um ehrlich zu sein, ich habe keine Ahnung warum, aber wir haben weder ein Label noch einen Plattenvertrag. Ich habe beim Hochladen auf Jamendo einfach nur die verschiedenen Optionen gesehen und gedacht, dass diese eine Lizenz genau die richtige für die Nutzer wäre.”
FM: “Ist Musik Euer Beruf oder was macht Ihr sonst noch so? Tretet Ihr oft auf und wo?
El Cantaitor: “Wir spielen ab und zu ein paar Konzerte hier in Barcelona und in ein paar anderen Städten Spaniens. Unser Mann an der E-Gitarre, Carlos Saura, ist ein wahrer Profi, wir restlichen Bandmitglieder sind Amateure.”
“Die Idee hinter unserer Band ist es meine Gedichte zu vertonen. Das Lied Vecindario beispielsweise handelt vom Alltagsleben in meinem Quartier: jede Menge laute Menschen, die Ihrem Leben auf der Straße nachgehen. Wir sind hier eben nicht gerade eine high class society – hahahaha. Für unser Lied Vecindario haben wir die Geräusche der Leute einfach mit einem Kassettenrekorder aufgenommen. Du kannst Dir sicher vorstellen wir das klingt: ajajajajaa”
“Naja, es war schön Dich getroffen zu haben. Wenn Du eine Möglichkeit für uns weißt in Dresden zu spielen, sag uns bitte Bescheid.”

You can’t always choose your neighbours. And unless you are rich you can’t afford an estate big enough to completely get rid off them. But what you can make is: something out of it. Out of the neighbours, that is or out of the situation you can get in when your neighbourhood is noisy.
E.g. you can call the police and have a nice chat with them on the uselessnes of trying to calm your neighbours down, you could as well get crazy or imagine that the whole chattering are acknowledgements spoken behind your back or you can record the noise and make an intro for a cool song out of it.
So did El Cantaitor from Barcelona in Spain who even dedicated this song to their neighbourhood, because Vecindario does mean exactly that: neighbourhood.
The singer of El Cantaitor gave me a little interview, I’d like to reproduce here for both your amusement and knowledge gain.
FM: “Would it be okay if I’d publish one of your songs, maybe my favourite Vecindario, in the freemusicpodcast?”
El Cantaitor: “You can use the song or songs that you prefer. For me there is absolutely no problem. In fact it would be a great honour, so please feel free to do whatever you want.”
FM: “Why did you license your songs under a free license and what made you choose especially the Licence Art Libre and not the Creative Commons – BY licence or a more restrictive licence?”
El Cantaitor: “Why I choose that? In fact I don´t have any idea why, but I don´t have a label or record deal. So I just read the options on uploading the songs on Jamendo and I thought that it would be a nice licence for the rest of the people.”
FM: “Is music the profession of all of you or what else are you doing? And do you often play live gigs and where?”
El Cantaitor: “We play some concerts here in Barcelona and in some other parts of Spain. The player of the electric guitar Carlos Saura is professional, the rest of us are amateurs.”
“The main idea of that project is to give some music to my poems. For example Vecindario, which means neighbourhood, talks of what I find everyday in my street: lots of noisy people doing the life in the street. We are not a high class society here – hahahahaha. The noise of the people is recorded live, just with a tape…you can imagine ajajajajaa.”
“Well, pleased to meet you and if you know any possibility to go to play to Dresden please let us know, we will find a way to get there.”
