Brimfield, MA hosts one of the largest antique shows in the country. Thousands of dealers unload their trucks and vans for over a hundred thousand people on over twenty fenced off and gated fields, each opening at their own designated time. The crowds gather promptly, anxiously awaiting the sounding of the bell. Each field holds the promise of something fantastic--possibly the one antique they have been looking for for years, the item they dream about, a last piece in a collection. The trick is to get to it first because in the midst, sniffing around, are some of the world's most successful and specialized antique dealers. They, too, are looking for their diamond in the rough. ANTIQUE ROADKILL follows three New York City dealers who have been coming to Brimfield for dozens of years like it's some annual party. Stumbling through rain soaked fields, the dealers guide us with their war stories as well as the sordid history of wild parties years ago. From the moment the gates are opened, we follow them trying to earn a buck while teaching us the secrets of their trade. This is not the side of antiquing you are used to seeing. Professional and comical, ANTIQUE ROADKILL takes you through the evaluating and haggling of antiques in the marketplace and then bringing it back to New York City where we learn what all the fuss was about.
