An Intimate Look at Rachel Carson

Boothbay Region Land Trust sponsored event

Stanley Freeman Jr., son of Dorothy Freeman, close friend of the late naturalist, environmental writer and marine biologist Rachel Carson. Joining Stanley is his wife, Madeleine, and daughter, Martha, author of the book âAlways Rachel,â reading excerpts from correspondence and other written material.
The program is a portrait of Rachel Carsonâs years in Southport from the perspective of the Freeman family, Carsonâs neighbors and, in particular, Dorothy Freeman and her husband, to whom Carson dedicated her 1955 book âThe Edge of the Sea.
