Domain Name Podcast?
Well I got my first sample of Go Daddy's new podcast late Saturday afternoon. I have to say I am very impressed so far and I look forward to hearing the next show. They discussed a lot of domain name issues that are out there right now in the world. Mitch in Next Two Ping! Zine Magazines

.US Domain Names - No More Privacy?
There has been a lot of noise made recently about the whole.us domain name controversy. It seems like Uncle Sam wants to keep domain name registrations of the .us name public. Now if they planned to do this, I wish they would have done so when the .us domain name first came out. However I don't really see what the big problem is. Yes, a few folks who thought they had private domain name registrations and now are having those overthrown are in a tough spot. Personally I would rather see all this anger go to getting domain name registration records changed. We all know that "whois" searches are out of date. This sort of information should be out there in the first place. I shouldn't have to pay $10 or more to keep it from getting out there either.

Spammer goes to Jail
Finally a spammer gets hit with something he didn't want to receive either.Jeremy Jaynes is his name and spamming is his game. I am happy to see that he is getting nine years of jail for this, but not too happy he's not there yet. Now do I think this is going to solve the spam problem? Not till it becomes an everyday part of life. Once it ends up being not out of the norm to arrest somebody for spamming will it become a true way of getting folks to stop this annoyance. Even with stricter laws, there is still spamming from overseas and folks just doing it because they can that you will have to deal with. Give it another ten years or so and it will be much like the war on drugs is these days. Folks get arrested and know it is illegal, but they will do it to make a quick buck.

Do Hosting Certifications Work?
I was reading on one of the Web Hosting Chat forums the other day abouthosting certificationsand how well they help your Web hosting business. In my opinion, they are like hanging curtains in a window. They make things look nice, but if your window has cracks, it still won't keep the weather from coming in. There are a lot of companies that live by hiring folks with a long list of certifications from one place or the other. Do I have any I'd like to share? Nope. My only certifications have come in the way of thank you and you rock from all the folks I have been able to help out there in the Web hosting world.

Data Center Conference
Data Centres Europe 2005is just around the corner and will be about, "a renewed focus for the Data Centre business, and calls attention to a regeneration of the sector across the region and the challenges that lie ahead". It is also a place for industry leaders to meet up and share ideas about the world of data centers, which is the backbone of the Web hosting world. The event will take place April 28 through April 29 and I encourage any of European Web Hosting Show fans to go and check it out. It is the one and only convention in Europe to meet the movers and shakers of both the data center and Web hosting worlds of business.
