As I have written about recently, the crime rate in The Bahamas has escalated in the past few years, and is now, in my opinion, and indeed in the opinion of others, completely out of control. Recently the government decided to appoint yet another of their ‘Panels’ or ‘Committees’ to seek some answers, as to how to deal with this very serious threat to the overall wellbeing of the people and the country.

Now it appears to me, that when the government, any government appoints committees or commissions to examine the causes of crime, and then come up with practical solutions to combat it; these committees always appear to be made up of the same kind of people, who in my opinion, are those who are in fact mainly responsible for the rise in crime in the first place.

Yes indeed, the panel of people who are charged with coming up with solutions to dealing with the very serious situation which exists in The Bahamas today, is comprised of, God help us all, Politicians, Religious Leaders, Police Officials, Union Leaders, and Business people. Now it is my opinion, and indeed the opinion of most thinking people, that those who are supposed to be seeking the solutions to the crime problem in the country, are in fact the very ones who have indeed contributed in no uncertain manner to the problem.

It really is a case of the blind leading the blind, it really is figuratively speaking, Nero fiddling while The Bahamas is burning, just like Rome centuries ago did. As the title of this article puts it ‘CAUSES can’t find solutions’. Let me elaborate on that.

As I have written about on many occasions in the past, far too many politicians in The Bahamas over the years have been rotten to the core, thus it therefore logically follows, that they are in effect a large part of the CAUSE of crime in the country; and until someone has the intestinal fortitude, the guts to admit this and do something to rectify it, we will not have a significant reduction in crime in the country.

Until we collectively own up to The FACT, that so many Religious Leaders are complete phonies who are in effect earning vast sums of money off the backs of the poor, the ignorant, we will not seek a solution to the crime problem in the country.

Anyone with an ounce of sense knows, that the inefficient, ineffective, corrupt, and brutal police are also a very big part of the problem. Likewise The Unions with their disruptive, blackmailing tactics have also contributed to the very belligerent nature of so many people who resort to violence.

Finally, a large segment of the Commercial Sector, are also rotten to the core, as they continue to use dishonest business practices, and treat employees like animals. In short, those who have CAUSED the problem, are in no way qualified to seek solutions!!!!
