Departing Hilo International Airport (ITO) aboard go! Airlines flight 1039 on Wed., Jan. 2, 2008. It's an unusually clear day for the often gray and wet east side of the Big Island. Despite a dirty window and the glare of the sun, the view of the Hamakua Coast and Mauna Kea is impressive. This is a short addition to my kids' collection of airplane videos, which includes: Departure (April 8, 2005) Takeoff (June 27, 2005) go! Interisland (Jan 7, 2007) HD: Takeoff (December 30, 2007) The above is the embedded video player from Vimeo, one of the only online video hosts to serve up HD content. To see the HD video (and not a scaled and compressed Flash version), however, you need to view it at Vimeo or download the original movie file (48MB/1250x720/MP4). It should look great on an Apple TV. You can also watch this video at YouTube, Google Video, and Blip TV (low quality but fast playing). DivX fans can find this video at Stage6 (in HD).
