Link to the Show / Show NotesBrian Cook, Rebecca Scott, and a drum machine formed Panda Riot in late July of 2005, while working on the soundtrack to a short documentary on marine biology. The many underwater scenes and airplane shots of the film inspired a blissful, swirl-pop, sing-along sonar aesthetic that was so delightful, they made a band of it. Their music depends on a drum machine, blown-out guitar sounds, a keyboard plugged through a death metal pedal, and the whimsical wafts of Rebecca's breathy soprano. Panda Riot plays extensively in Philadelphia in New York City's East Village, and the band continually demos an ever expanding set of songs.
