Link to the Show / Show NotesWell folks, we're in the last 3 days of the membership drive. Be sure to get your donations in by Wednesday March 1st! I will be contacting everyone who wins a prize next weekend to confirm your mailing address. But before that, we've got a great show for you this week from some nifty Synthpop to stompy Aggro. There's something for everyone!
Synthetic Dream Foundation - Ophelias Mechanical Wings
Overall the album is a little disappointing. Other than the couple of tracks that I've played thus far, it's a wee bit too laid back for me. Funny, all the shortish songs are slow, but all of the long ones are drawn out technoish tracks.
Cesium 137 - Eastern Sky
The only problem I have with the new Cesium disc is the way darn near each track starts. Makes it a little difficult to mix. But there's some neat harmonics in here, the vocals are top notch.
Cat Rapes Dog - American Jesus (Electronic)
RSA needs more Elvis, and this Cat Rapes Dog remix fills that void. The vocals are a little weak in places, but I'm digging this. This comes from the Synthphony remixed volume 7 disc, and volume 7 seems to be left over stuff. Thumbs are kind of in the middle on this disc.
Proceed - Reaktion (Endtrance)
Proceed is basically growly german vocals with an aggro beat. Honestly, the disc doesn't do much for me, but I was able to find something that really isn't that representative of their sound, but does float my boat.
The Legends - Hide Away (Project-X)
Apparently this is an odd combination, but I don't really know anything about The Legends. Both bands are from Sweden, so thats probably why "A" remixed "B". Chris passed this along as apparently The Legends are way out there as far as my taste in music goes. Interesting track though, I like it!
Angel Theory - Descendant
Here's a nifty instrumental from a band that is one to watch. Angel Theory doesn't really break out much from the pack, but the music they do is very solid. Mark my words, they'll find thier niche and surprise us all one of these days.
Reactivate - Souldestroyer (Club)
Another one where Chris made me play this one. Seriously, he flew up from South Carolina and held a gun to my head. I'm scarred. Honest.
Wumpscut - Wir Warten
I'll admit, I haven't been a big fan of Wumpscut since Embryodead. With the exception of Wreath of Barbs. Too much of the disc is just kind of mid tempo weirdness with nothing that really sets it apart from the rest. Rudy needs to find those odd catchy beats that made Wumpscut different IMHO.
Well, until next week. Get your butt over to Real Synthetic Audio!
