rewster’s Stony Brook is most known for its dramatic springtime herring “run.” Ocean dwellers for most of their lives, each April the herring return to the freshwater ponds of their birth to spawn. In winter Stony Brook runs clear over the stones and ladders that lead from Cape Cod Bay to the Mill Pond, but it’s historic grist mill, built in 1751, still makes for a sound-filled and visually-scenic visit. The Stony Brook Museum is housed in the historic structure which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This 63 minute digital recording of the waters of Stony Brook is 100% natural, with no added music or synthesized sound.
