We live in a complex world. Everything is speeding up, and the amount of information that comes our way everyday is steadily increasing. But in the midst of this growing complexity is a growing hunger for simplicity. Trend watchers tell us that simple is in. You can see evidence of this simplicity in business, in technology and in design. Regardless of what trend is in or out, simple has always been in when it comes to spiritual growth. We sometimes make it seem complex, but the path to growing as a Christian has never been a secret.
1. Ground ourselves in Scripture
- So that we are not surprised or unsettled
- So that we are not easily divided
2. Commit ourselves to faith strengthening activities
- Take responsibility for our spiritual growth
- Fellowship regularly with other Christians
3. Make prayer a regular habit
- Pray continually
- Pray in God’s power
4. Understand that the spiritual life involves active and passive elements
- Seek to live by Christ’s commands
- Learn to wait patiently
5. Participate in God’s rescue mission
- Understand the urgency of the task
- Understand the danger of the task
