Last week we explored David’s famous sin with Bathsheba and the unexpected places the road to moral failure took him. This week we are looking at how David responded once his sin was discovered. This passage not only teaches us how to respond after a season of sin, but also points us to the God whose grace is greater by far than all our sin.
1. No one is ever above the Word of the Lord.
2. The Word of the Lord is always personal.
- It is often tempting to think the message is for someone else
- The key issue is how we respond
3. The Word of the Lord cannot be violated without consequences.
- These consequences are often far-reaching and affect others
- Even genuine repentance does not remove consequences
4. The Word of the Lord contains judgment and mercy
- We need both of these messages
- One failure need not negate a lifetime of service
