Link to the Show / Show NotesThe Norwegian Soloist's Choir occupies a unique position in the musical life of Norway. The ensemble has given over two hundred premier performances of which over seventy have been of works by Norwegian composers.
Grete Pedersen studied at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo where she took her exam in choir conducting and since 1995 has also taught the same subject. She is the conductor of the Oslo Chamber Choir which she founded in 1984. In 1990, she succeeded Knut Nystedt as artistic director of the Norwegian Soloist's Choir. In this week’s Inspired Minds Grete Pedersen speaks to Breandáin O’Shea about Norway’s choral tradition and we sample some of the exciting new compositions the Norwegian Soloist's Choir has commisioned.
