As I have mentioned in the past, this solution was originally a product called Conisio that made it's debut into the SolidWorks community back in 2001. It was then acquired by SolidWorks Corporation in 2006 and has become a very tightly integrated enterprise level solution for PDM. Many of the enhancements in this release have brought this tool up to the integration standard of it's workgroup counterpart, Workgroup PDM. I am encouraged by the direction that SolidWorks has taken with this product, especially since most enterprise level solutions are cumbersome as well as difficult to implement, both of which Enterprise PDM is not. Next week I will follow up with a bit more technical discussion of the administration side of this product as well as what new features have been introduced in the 2009 version.
