Dr. Joshua Hornig, an Otolaryngologist, explains a new technique, endoscopic parathyroid surgery that is used at MUSC to remove the thyroid or thyroid cancer. This innovative surgery leaves only a half inch incision, as opposed to a 4 inch incision by standard thyroid surgery. Dr. Hornig talks about the instrumentation used, what thyroid conditions are treated and how quickly a patient will recover with almost no visible scarring.
