Link to the Show / Show NotesLawmakers passed controversial immigration bill Senate Bill 81 during last year's session, which the governor signed off on after it was amended to push the implementation date back to July 1st of this year. The governor's hope is that the federal government will take action on the problems with our immigration system, thus making this bill unnecessary. But with economic problems looming, we can't be sure the federal government will take any action in the next six months. So if nothing changes, SB81 will go into effect.
