"With the Google homepage we want to tell our customers from the first moment that they are carrying with them the Internet they know from home," T-Mobile board member Ulli Gritzuhn said at a news conference at T-Mobile's headquarters. Many customers have shunned mobile Internet services such as T-Mobile's old "t-zones" or market leader Vodafone's "Live!," often finding them complicated and expensive.

Hack: Social Engineering

When trying to get information that is not easily accessible, sometimes some creativity can come into play and assist you with getting what you want. Social engineering is something you have most likely seen if you ever saw a movie or TV show with a private investigator lying about who they are and asking questions to someone over the phone. This tactic is a key factor on the hit show Veronica Mars. In order to social engineer, you need to keep a few key items in mind.

First, social engineering to gain confidential information can be consitered a crime and should not be something taken lightly. Doing this should only be on your friends or in situations where you are 100% sure you are acting within the law.

You also need to know your lingo. All companies use internal lingo. From Old Navy to ISP's to everyday businesses with internal procedures. Think about your job. How many terms do you know about that would be gibberish to the average person? It's kinda like TPS Reports in the movie Office Space. We don't know what it is but we know how to ask for one. Knowing your lingo can gain trust among the people you are speaking to.

Get in, get out, make it subtle. When looking for a specific piece of information, you should bury the question in the mix of other questions you are asking the person.

For more reference you should check out Kevin Mitnick's The Art of Deception.
