Link to the Show / Show NotesToday we take a look at the orchestral music of the great English composer Benjamin Britten. Britten occupies an unrivalled position in English music of the twentieth century and a place of greater importance in the wider musical world. Although he is particularly known as a vocal and opera composer, Britten was also a superb orchestral composer. We will look in particular at Britten's Sinfonia di Requiem, op. 20, the Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes, the Variations on a theme of Frank Bridge, op. 10 and The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.
