A few years back actuallly around the time when Viz's PULP saw its last printings, Shogakukan decided to expand their seinen line. Already, Shogakukan had one of the better men's lines in the business with the famous Big Comic imprints. Each Big was taylored to a different demographic from college student to salaryman to manga scholar. Their new imprint was very different. This was sophisticated manga from a slightly alternative angle. Mature titles with excellent stories and innovative designs. A good mix of shorts and series but most of them very dialogue based. So if you don't like your stories, IKKI possibly is not for you.
Viz has not really tapped IKKI much but the pair of titles they have brought over have been special - so much so they have both been Critics Choices.

My Picks
The train loving Tetsuko no Tabi a biographical train otaku manga. Its like a cooking manga for train lovers.
I Love Biyori is a wonderful slice of life romance manga. Just two young lovers living together, talking together and having fun. Touching comedy and easily one of the more romantic titles I have read in ages.
