Tech news:

At Gnomedex this year, Microsoft is excited about the new RSS integration into Windows Longhorn and Internet Explorer 7. Screenshots of Internet Explorer 7 reveal how Microsoft has added a search tool to the top right of the browsing window similar to the one found in Safari/Firefox. Also, Microsoft revealed that RSS will be integrated into the heart of Longhorn."

Apple is giving out invites to a special media event to be held July 7, but they’re not giving out any of the finer details such as, you know, where the event will occur and what will be happening during it. That of course indicates that the speculations are flying over what will transpire, and industry sources believe at least one of the announcements might be the release of iTunes 4.9 with podcasting support. Rumor also has it that July 7 could see the announcement of new iPods, either second-generation iPod shuffles or fifth-generation iPods, or both.

Ask A Geek:

Follow-up- Here's my experience, FWIW.

I used an iTrip for a long time and eventually got a car stereo with
AUX input.

The iTrip uses up a LOT of power, which virtually requires you to plug
the iPod into the car power. With the AUX connection, you still have
the iPod hanging on a wire, but you can at least run the iPod without
a power connection for a reasonable amount of time if you want.

I also had the (common) problem of finding a frequency that was clear
enough to use and also clear along my entire regular commute. I never
did resolve this completely. And if I ever drove off my regular
commute, I'd have to fumble a lot to find a clear frequency and tune
both the iTrip and the radio.

The sound quality was frequently poor.

I hated "playing" the little songs that tune the iTrip. I always
ended up playing a bunch of them in sequence, instead of just the one
I wanted. Also hard on the ears.

So, I always suggest the AUX jack. I'll keep my iTrip for the rare
times I might want to play the pod in another car.
