I must say we were quite amped for this episode. For most of us in our late 20’s to 40’s growing up in Canada and getting the latest in “urban” music was something you planned for since there were so few outlets, so when that one Hip Hop radio show came on in your city, everyone was listening at the same time.
The same could be said for Muchmusic., Canada’s music station. Seeing a R&B/Soul or Hip Hop video only happened originally on one show, Soul In The City, everyone watched or taped it for the latest, oh and when there was a Hip Hop special, it was an event! From that show eventually Rap City became a reality and so on. The original face for both of those shows and others like the Power Hour and New Music, was Michael Williams, he of the sleevless T’s.
We go through a ton of history in one hour, if you hear some names you don’t know, get up on Google the man has a wealth of musical knowledge.
