“Declaring His Excellencies”

1 Peter 2:9-12 (Pew Bible Page 1015)

The book of 1 Peter is a call to engage in missions.  It is a call to engage our own culture and society.  It is a call to declare the wonderful message of grace around the world.  It is a call to radical living.  It is a call to generous giving.  It is a call to suffering.  In this passage Peter tells us…

A. WHO WE BELONG TO  (2:9a)

1.      We are objects of God’s grace.

2.      We have a new relationship with God that is lived out in worship and service to Him

3.      We are to look and sound different from the rest of the world

4.      We belong to Jesus Christ and are to respond to His leadership with joyful worship and obedience

B.  WHAT WE ARE ABOUT  (2:9b-10)

C.  HOW TO DECLARE HIS EXCELLENCIES  (2:11-12)

1. Remember who you belong to. 
2. Live who you are.  
3. Share who you are. 
4. Sacrifice for who you are.  
5. Suffer for who you are. 

In response to His Word – what is God calling you to do?  How is he calling you to declare His excellencies?  Whatever it is, do it.
