Viz and Shueisha's R.O.D. is the prequel to the anime OVA and Read or Dream TV series. And it focuses on the background of the British Library Agent known as the Paper. Readers familiar with the animated versions should remember the characters involved, but as we get to see in this volume the circumstances have made them show parts of their personalities that were not touched in the other incarnations. This is a much darker side to Yomiko Readman and I really found that aspect brought her together as a character very well.
Readers should find this book on shelves by mid-July (July 18, 2006 street... though Borders has it in stock already).
