Link to the Show / Show NotesSadly, my summer vacation is coming to an end. It was nice while it lasted, but as I go back to work on Tuesday I figured I might as well leave you all with a new dose of RSA to cheer myself up and get some aggression out! This week we've got a lot of nifty stompy music along with the synthy goodness that you've all come to love and expect!
Front Line Assembly - The Storm
OK, I admit. THis one really confused me. After listening for a few minutes I thought "This sounds a hell of a lot like Covenant." Oh wait, it features vocals by Eskil. Go figure.
Faderhead - O-H Scavenger
I'm not really sure I want to know what an O-H scavenger is, but I'm fairly digging this Faderhead band. Nothing really new or ground breaking here, but it's well done and I enjoy it.
Combichrist - Get Your Body Beat (Manufactura)
Stupidly stompy, but that suits Combichrist well enough. They also managed to make something Manufactura did listenable so I guess both bands sorta cancel each other out a bit.
Grendel - Soilbleed v.3
I'm not a huge "Terror EBM" fan, but I love the use of samples in this track. EBM is basically repetitive aggressive disco, and the marine corps samples work very, very well.
Tactical Sekt - You're Fired
There's nothing here that really stands out at all. But for some strange reason a well crafted stompy track floats my boat. I still like the way that Tactical Sekts drum samples are somewhat different from everyone elses. Even when it makes things difficult to mix!
Conetik - Dead Stars (Frozen Plasma)
I still think this mix starts kinda roughly, but I really like Conetik, and Frozen Plasma isn't bad either. I still think they should just call this the Namnambulu mix, I couldn't tell the difference.
Powder Pussy - Universalpussynation
I'll admit. I'm not a huge fan. But I figure I'd get this played on RSA before it was played to death in clubs and we're all sick of it. At least it doesn't sample Cheech Marin.
Obscyre - Und Wenn Ein Stern
The only problem I have with the new Obscyre disc is that my favorite tracks from it don't seem to blend well with the other stuff coming out around now. Still, it's great stuff and you deserve to hear it!
Check it out!
