COREY HARRIS has dug for the deepest and truest essence of the blues, reggae, gospel and other roots music by examining and celebrating their origins in various cultural centers – Africa, the Caribbean, Appalachia, Europe and beyond. In 2007, he was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship grant – commonly referred to as a “genius award.” Corey’s latest CD on Telarc Records is blu.black. It’s a collection of primarily blues and reggae songs that examine the African-American story of earlier centuries and connects it to the present day and future generations.

ASHLEY CLEVELAND is a three-time Grammy and two-time Dove Award winner who has released eight critically acclaimed albums. God Don't Never Change is her most recent effort, and features songs rooted firmly in a "host of traditions -- black spirituals, folk songs, 18th century hymns, gospel blues, and jubilee." The songs on the CD – ranging from the Blind Willie Johnson title track or the Washington Phillips tune “Denomination Blues.” These vintage songs come from a rich history of struggle and pain, more from open-sky fields than high-ceilinged cathedrals, and have found their latest voice in a woman willing to work hard to find her own place within them.
