Link to the Show / Show NotesSince 1978 the Berlin International Film Festival has dedicated a special section to films for children and youth called "Generation". Since 2008 it has been directed by Maryanne Redpath.
The New Zealander Maryanne Redpath has been living and working in Berlin since 1985. She has a diverse background with studies in art and drama and has worked as a multi-media performance artist, taught drama to handicapped and gave art lessons to Aboriginal children living in Central Australia. She has also written scripts for and directed experimental films.
In this week’s Inspired Minds, Maryanne Redpath talks to Breandáin O’Shea about her criteria when selecting films for the festival, just how astute younger audiences are when they are evaluating films and some of the highlights of the Generation section of this year’s Berlinale.
