Link to the Show / Show Notes
So we have done audio from Ikebukuro and Akihabara in Tokyo. Now the MangaCast has gone to its home away from home away from its other home - Osaka. I grew up around here and today I take a look at some shojo manga from in front of the train station I would take regularly to get up to the big city from my burb home in Sakai.
Cookie for those of you who don't know is a part of the Ribbon Comics line. Shojo for the more mature shojo out there. NANA and a few other titles have come from this magazine. Fashion friendly, funny and full of romance this magazine might look light and fluffy but it does have an edge to it.
This week we look at:

My Picks
LoveRevolution really struck a right chord with me. These romance shorts may be simple but they take on some tough issues. In this chapter maybe having doubts about a present romance is a problem, but at least the main character has someone to love. Her new friend will never see her's again.
Yuka-chan looks like the perfect all ages shojo manga. No maho shojo nude scenes or awkward moments that make parents and bookstores cringe. This manga is about a sixth grader named Yuka and her best friend. They are very fashionable and they want to stay that way. You want to know where they got that? Well follow the female role models in their lives to a fancy seaside spa to find out! In the end, its always going to be Yuka-chan getting the fashion tips. Great art, fun adventures and some silly slap-stick for those looking for comedy in shojo form.
Talking bird for a friend!! Yup. Chiyo, the lead bird for ChiyoChiyo, was once the favorite pet of a Japanese celeb. Abondoned the chick is now living with a 22-year-old yakitori lover. Can Chiyo survive living with its natural predator? Absolutely especially if Chiyo is the brains of this duo. This series is not likely to get picked up, but the absurd concept was enough to get me hooked.
