In part one of our two-part interview with John Heckathorn, noted food writer and man-about-town, he gives us his view of dining in Honolulu and why it's so hard for new places to open. We talk about Hawaii Regional Cuisine at this point in time and why the changes in our dining scene are coming from the bottom up. He also explains why he loved The Third Floor so much. In part two (which will be in our next podcast), we will chat about what's happening with all the Japanese places opening and what's up with Chinese restaurants. In the news, new spots to watch in Chinatown, P.F. Chang's opens in Kakaako, Delays with Farrell's and Aloha Aina Cafe Closes Contributors to today's podcast include David Stewart, Jesus Puerto, Marianne Schultz, Gary Maunakea-Forth and Sarah Shaw Treharne. Music Credits: 'Berimbau' by Inverted Silence/Jim Kang was provided by ccmixter.org. 'Urgent Rush' by Ernseto Sett was provided by the PodShow Podsafe Music Network. This podcast is a proud member of the Hawaii Association of PodCasters. To find more great podcasts from Hawaii and to learn about podcasting in Hawaii visit www.hawaiipodcasting.com.
