Link to the Show / Show NotesBaroque Violinist Christina Day Martinson and harpsichordist Martin Pearlman tackle three of the fifteen “Rosary Sonatas” by Heinrich von Biber. These pieces call for “scordatura” (mis-tuned) violin, which makes for an unusual sound.
Heinrich von Biber: “Rosary” (or “Mystery”) Sonatas:
Sonata no. 1 (The Annunciation)
Sonata no. 10 (The Crucifixion)
Sonata no. 14 (The Assumption of the Virgin)
