Democratic gubernatorial nominee Chris Bell told the partisan folks at the Highlands Social Club in San Antonio that the late Gov. Ann Richards once told him he was nuts to run for governor.

But in a podcast interview, Bell explains how he thinks he can pull off an upset against Gov. Rick Perry on Nov. 7 in a crowded field that also includes independents Kinky Friedman and Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn, as well as Libertarian James Werner.
