Oh standby! This situation is classic and knows no game or platform boundaries. Some broadband modems have a button on them called standby. I’m not sure what the real world benefit of it is (student debt consolidation perhaps?) but long story short people use it to cheat. The effect is that the cowardly pussy disconnects everyone else from the network and then goes around and kills the people who were disconnected. Team standbying is one player that does this, in a team game, and disconnects the other team, but not the cheaters team. You will see this in critical moments such as when you have the upper hand in an encounter, or when you are about to score a point. A few moments pass as you reconnect and then you find yourself, or your whole team, dead. In this recording you will hear the goodwill that standby generates.
