This week, the UNK Reynolds Writers Series continues its fall semester readings with this year's crop of Reynolds Scholars recipients next Thursday, November 11, then Natasha Trethewey November 18, both in Kearney. The Lincoln Community Playhouse presents the Family Theatre production of HOLES November 12-14 and 18-21. LCP Executive Director Morrie Enders previews this adaptation of Louis Sacher's award-winning book about Stanley Yelnats, who is mistakenly sent to a youth work camp where the warden insists on daily digging. Also, The Interdisciplinary Arts Symposium at UNL's Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts continues with French performance and visual artist ORLAN in residence at the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln. IAS founder and director Rhonda Garelick and Sheldon Director Daniel Veneciano talk about her work, which blends biotechnology, fashion, film and design, and showcases the harlequin patchwork motif as a metaphor for ethnic diversity and multiculturalism. And, UNL music professors Mark Clinton, piano; Diane Barger, clarinet; Clark Potter, viola; and Jeffrey McCray, bassoon, perform a benefit concert Friday, November 12 at the Masonic Temple in Lincoln. The CHANGE FOR THE TROOPS concert proceeds go to phone cards for our troops stationed around the world. Those things, as well as a statewide arts calendar and All About Books.
