Winter in upon us and what better way to spend it than to watch a video of a holiday weekend in July?  And yes, it took us this long to edit this piece, but what do you want for nothing more than your time to watch it?  Gold stars for everyone!

Here at TheOccasionalFag.com we have no budgets; all part of the fun.  Actors and scripts are for people making "media", we're in this to make something akin to art.  But, when we think about taking that which others might consider dross or mundane and turning it into a work of video art, here is what is going on in our minds:

-Being gay isn't all about mindnumbingly thumping music or humpy shirtless men grinding against each other hours on end.  Sure, these aspects of homocity have their place in the life, but there is more, even if that more is considered by most, less...

-Politically, we wish our lives where as promiscuous  as the Homo-hating Right  - in a very telling way - makes us out to be, but they're not, and it is important to put out images of gay men being other ways than the stereotypes both negative and positive that we're bombarded with daily.  Gay men can be boring, and ennui is'nt always a bad thing.  Even if it bores you, our sameness to others is an important point to present.

So, this video is about friends gathered in the country to enjoy a simple pleasures weekend.  No script.  Mostly images.

The ambient music in the background of this video is from the "Twelve Munite Travelogues" podcast available on iTunes.  It is used with permission (a rarity here at TheOccasionalFag...) and created by musician Joe Wall of Baltimore.  More information about Joe can be found at www.sonacast.com.

Enjoy!
