Now in its 6th year, this program is run entirely by graduate students from the Harvard Medical School community. We assume no prior scientific knowledge, and this has allowed us to attract a diverse audience from all walks of life. Our ninth lecture and the last of our 2006 series is on the topic of global warming. This topic covers a discussion of what evidence there is for global warming and how scientists investigate such large-scale questions as those that are involved in studying climate change. Then, we will turn to looking at the environmental impact of global warming with humans being part of that environment that is affected. What do melting global ice reserves mean for drinking water and sea levels and how might a change in just a few degrees of temperature impact health and disease? Lastly, will explain some of the proposed global warming solutions you may have heard about. In this lecture, Nicole Danos discusses some solutions to the climate change problem, and the scientific facts that guide them.
