Bringing the show to you a few hours earlier and on a Tuesday night, my wife is away in Ohio with the boys and Iâm on the patio podcasting with a beer in my hands. I always wanted to record a show out here so here it comes. Next week I think I might be on vacation. I know that sounds weird but we had it scheduled but something has come up so itâs kind of up in the air so check in next Wednesday. Special thanks to everyone who came out to the CEA Golf outing last Friday. We had a great turn out, just not great weather. Shorter show today as Iâm pretty sure the world is on vacation this month.
Saturday was the day that the 2009 summer came to Chicago. Hot, humid and muggy I feel for those of you who work on elevators in this heat. As my mom always said make sure you drink lots of liquids. We saw 96 degrees on Sunday which to many of you is a bit on the cool side but for us the quick change was brutal. Weâve got a shorter show today, only covering elevator news. Next week I may be on vacation but check back on Wednesday to see for sure. We have one last blast before the kids go back to school. Get yours in before itâs too late. Be safe and stay cool out there everyone.

Rumours are swirling that Robert Mugabe days are numbered -- so we talk with an expert about the Zimbabwean president's long and terrible reign. Sask., lies and videotape? The NDP in Regina releases a 16-year-old home movie that brings an entirely disreputable meaning to "Conservative Party." And, what did it feel like to be on Frank Sinatra's hit list. Also, a new record is set for the longest stand-up act. And, a story about marriage fraud and a strange fish with forward facing eyes.

The Northwest Rebellion: A Visit to Batoche:
Batoche
Show #25: The Northwest Rebellion: Batoche Soundseeing Tour
This show features a soundseeing tour of the National Historic Site of Batoche, site of the last battle of the Northwest Rebellion in 1885. It focuses on the intertwining stories of Gabriel Dumont and Louis Riel and the Metis people of this part of the country.
Some of the material in the podcast is from the AV presentation in the park's interpretive centre and some is me narrating as I move through the park. The closing song in this piece is Sacrifice from Robbie Robertson's album "Contact from the Underworld of RedBoy". The song tells the story of Leonard Peltier, an Aboriginal political prisoner currently held in a U.S. prison following an altercation in the 1970's. The album is available from the iTunes Music Store. This is a great album by one of Canada's most talented songwriters, formerly the band leader of The Band.
